After an April 2024 tornado destroyed more than half of their 5,000-square-foot home, our clients entrusted us with helping them rebuild a place that felt like home again. Over the course of more than a year, we worked closely together to reimagine their spaces through a lens of simplicity, functionality, and connection to the outdoors. As business owners who travel frequently, our clients find inspiration and restoration in their favorite coastal destinations and life on the lake. We translated those experiences into a modern, organic design defined by calming blues, soft neutrals, natural textures, and fluid forms. The result is a thoughtfully layered home that balances effortless beauty with the demands of everyday living, entertaining, and a house full of beloved cats.
A thoughtfully reimagined lakeside retreat. Rebuilding with purpose, inspired by nature, and designed for effortless living.
Custom Furnishings for an Expansive Footprint
The scale of the home called for furnishings that went beyond standard dimensions. Custom-sized sofas, area rugs, coffee tables, and other key pieces were thoughtfully designed to establish proportion, define gathering areas, and maintain a sense of intimacy within the expansive rooms. Durable, performance-driven fabrics balance elevated aesthetics with the practical needs of everyday life and multiple pets.
Key Implementations
Effortless Entertaining + Flexible Living
With frequent guests and an active lifestyle, versatility was essential. Main living spaces were designed for comfortable gatherings, easy maintenance, and adaptable seating arrangements. The lower level became a destination for recreation and connection, accommodating everything from table tennis and billiards to foosball, while providing generous space for entertaining.
Concealed Storage + Visual Simplicity
Throughout the home, intentional storage solutions allow everyday necessities to remain close at hand without interrupting the design. By incorporating concealed storage and minimizing visual clutter, we created clean, open environments that support a sense of calm, clarity, and ease.
Finding Simplicity Within Scale
Designing a home of more than 5,000 square feet presented unique challenges in proportion, functionality, and cohesion. We approached every space with intention, refining layouts, customizing furnishings, and integrating flexible solutions to ensure the home felt connected rather than overwhelming. The resulting interiors demonstrate that true simplicity is achieved not through a lack of detail, but through the thoughtful consideration of every detail.
