Dundee North Primary Bath

For this young family, the upstairs bathroom felt more like an afterthought than a primary suite. Outdated finishes, a slanted ceiling, and a lack of storage left the space feeling cramped and uninspired. The clients wanted a refresh that would bring elegance, functionality, and a touch of sophistication—without overspending, since this wasn’t their forever home.

With a modern traditionalist style and a love of blue, we set out to transform this bathroom into a high-quality, long-lasting retreat that honors the home’s character while feeling cool, understated, and timeless.

Elegant Finish Refresh

We updated all finishes with a palette of calming neutrals accented by shades of blue, pairing classic tiles with modern fixtures for a sophisticated yet approachable feel. We also installed a fun wallpaper for a unique pop that brought the space to life.

Storage Solutions

With limited square footage, we introduced efficient vanity storage and clever built-in details to maximize usability without crowding the space.

Modern Traditional Style

By blending clean-lined fixtures with subtle nods to the home’s original character, the design strikes a balance between fresh and historic—feeling both current and respectful of the home’s legacy.

Key Implementations

Outdated + Cramped Layout

The existing bathroom felt small, dated, and awkward due to the slanted ceiling. Since the layout couldn’t be changed, we used visual tricks—like light-reflective finishes, vertical tile applications, and a soft color palette—to make the room feel taller and more open.

Limited Storage

The small footprint left no space for bulky cabinetry. We integrated storage within the vanity and added efficient built-in niches, ensuring everyday essentials had a place without overwhelming the design. We also used a shallow niche to create a unique built in cabinet for a bit of extra storage.

Challenges + Solutions

Honoring the Home’s Character

The clients wanted a design that felt modern but also respected the age of their home. We chose timeless tile patterns, traditional hardware finishes, and understated detailing that nod to the home’s historic charm while still reading as fresh and current.
