THE STORY
Moody Materials, Urban Update!
PHOTOGRAPHER: PAULA MOSER PHOTOGRAPHY
This client has been a long time client of The Modern Hive and was ready to update their tired early 2000's kitchen.
The layout of the kitchen was good, but the design materials and selections were poor.
We created an entirely new vision for our client but still worked with the existing footprint of the space. Several small changes made this space have a totally new feel!
We modified the existing island by eliminating the rounded profile. Straight lines created a much more modern space. The face of the island was covered in rift sawn white oak routed to look like a ship lap material. This same application is also found above the microwave, giving it a more customized hood. A gorgeous quartz countertop was installed on the island and the waterfall edge lined up perfectly with the veining of the material.
The cabinets were actually kept in tact, but were re-doored and re-stained to a new color, which was quite the process. Light wooden hardware gives the cabinets the perfect contrast against the dark stain.
A gorgeous black marble subway tile was installed, giving the kitchen quite the moody feel!
During this project we also installed new LVT Flooring throughout the main level, designed and installed a custom cable railing stair system, installed new doors, door hardware, base and casing throughout the home and painted the entire main and upper level a custom paint color.
